Chamomile Tea Benefits and Uses

Chamomile tea has numerous benefits and many creative uses. Some of the key benefits include:

1. Promotes Sleep and Treats Insomnia

Chamomile tea helps you get better sleep by calming your nervous system, promoting restful sleep, and alleviating insomnia. It’s also naturally anti-inflammatory, so it treats the symptoms of anxiety and depression without pharmaceutical assistance [1].

2. Feels Great on Your Skin

The antibacterial properties in chamomile tea help keep skin healthy and clear as well as tighten pores. Plus the essential oils in this drink smell great too! Drink it hot or cold to enjoy its refreshing qualities immediately after a long day at work or on a long drive to unwind yourself before bedtime [2]!

3. Stops Nausea and Induces Appetite

Chamomile tea has an anti-spasmodic effect that helps resolve nausea, soothe stomach cramps, and promote appetite. Its gentle calming effects can also ease the PMS symptoms, endometriosis, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Try drinking it a couple of times a day when you are experiencing these symptoms to give yourself natural relief from them [3].

4. Promotes Anti-Aging

Chamomile tea is packed with antioxidants, which help keep the skin looking young and healthy as you age. These antioxidants work synergistically to slow down the aging process.

5. Helps Treat Sore Throat

One of the biggest camomile tea benefits is when you have a cold and need something to soothe a sore throat or unblock your nose. Consider indulging in a steaming cup of camomile tea and allowing it to do its thing. To relieve nasal congestion, a runny nose, and a sore throat, inhale steam from Chamomile tea.

Suggested Use

Add 1 teaspoon loose-leaf chamomile tea to boiling water. Cover with a lid and let steep for 5 minutes to allow to infuse the flavours. Strain into a mug or vessel of your choice for serving. Sweeten with honey (optional).

Chamomile Tea and Honey

The therapeutic properties of both chamomile tea and honey make them Australia’s loved combination.

Simply add a tablespoon of quality raw honey to organic chamomile tea for a packed health kick.

Caution

If you are allergic to plants in the daisy family, such as ragweed and chrysanthemums, you should consult a healthcare professional before consuming chamomile tea.
